As part of our value set, social entrepreneurship is at the heart of our decision making. So, it only felt right that our Founder, Gordian Overschmidt, took this opportunity to apply for and complete the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) special course in teaching the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
The ICSB offer many courses for upskilling entrepreneurs, however this particular special course really stood out for us. Not least because one of the key actors in negotiating the SDGs into existence created the curriculum: Dr. Chantal Line Carpentier.
I suppose one question that could be asked is,
"why would ODE be interested in teaching?"
For us, we wanted to use our launch as an Opportunity to integrate the ethos of the SDGs: working towards a better world. We felt our launch is an opportunity to do that, offering the ODE app to educators throughout our launch market: India. Beyond this, we are also building a curriculum around decision making, helping young students unbox decision making.
Before the age of 34 many important decisions are made - I can hear you saying now: "I've made plenty of important decisions after 34!" And, we wouldn't disagree with that! But, what we have seen in research is the perception of how important decisions are is far higher for "youth". One big decision many face is where to study next, and this is exactly where we begin our effort; helping students de-mistify the decision of where to study, giving them the opportunity to make the best choice for themselves.
