a deer grouping criteria into categories
  • group criteria into categories
  • edit, restructure and remove things
  • add more stuff
  • switch between the two step as needed

Why

The goal is to assign all criteria into categories.

This might look easy on the surface ( seeing which criteria belong together ), but just like most steps, it aims of improving your understanding of the inherent structures, or bring them back to mind. This means we focus is on extracting and defining relations between criteria, as not all of those are as clear cut as grouping all monetary criteria into a “budget” category. Even that is more complicated at times.

Usually you'll end up with about half a dozen categories, some of which will replace criteria. This often also leads to discovering more criteria. Stuff that doesn't neatly fit with together, can remain unassigned, which we'll consider a separate category later on.

These categories will also serve as the primary aspects we'll look at in the results at the very end as well, as the results are based on abstracting the many small bits into something more manageable.

Examples

  • color, taste, fabric, bling → style, personal preference
  • tuition, travel expenses, food costs → costs, budget
  • friend A / Sibling ABC / Relative likes it → peer support
  • megapixels, image stabilization, memory → feature support

How

This will get some time saving improvements in the future, but to keep things accessible and straight forward, the current way will always work.

Create a category by tapping on the editor at the bottom, and enter a name. You're able to add multiple in succession by just pressing [enter].

Assign a criterion by first selecting the criterion, and then select the category you want it moved to. (Just tap on the highlighted area). You're able to un-assign or put them somewhere else in the same way.

Edit and remove categories by selecting one, and using the editor. Icons are available as well, just use the icon button on the left of the editor.

Also

Add more criteria by either going back to the previous step, or tapping on the small button on the top right of the screen.

Edit a criterion in place, by tapping on it twice. You'll then be able to use the editor as before.
